The first reason that you would choose a granite sink over a sink made with some other material is that it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The darkness of the granite makes a profound statement to the eye and many people will find this an extremely appealing aspect. You may choose to match the granite counter top exactly so that the entire sink and counter look as though they are one, or you may choose to contrast a dark granite sink with a light colored counter top.

Granite Sink 1

Granite sinks come in single or double bowl configurations and are made in an array of sizes. They are also quite deep down to a depth of 9 inches. Anything deeper than that is not comfortable ergonomically. They may also be made with multiple depth levels in the one unit. So the larger bowl may be a couple of inches deeper than the smaller bowl.

Part of the appeal of a granite sink is that it is very easy to keep it clean, particularly if you have installed a non-porous granite sink. The stone can simply be given a rinse with the top every so often. For small spots that stick to the sink, a solution of vinegar and water will quickly clear the stain. If the stain is larger and more difficult to remove, a solution of baking soda and water that is scrubbed into the surface gently will have the sink looking new again without much fuss.

Granite Sink 2The variations in the kind of granite available are another feature that many people will like. Although granite is often a dark stone, there are kinds of granite that is almost white in color. For most people the bigger drawing attraction with a granite kitchen sink was that the dark sink stood out from the rest of the kitchen. A white granite sink is still a very striking and also gives you the other benefits of all granite sinks.

One of the really attractive types is a farmhouse granite sink that gives you the large, deep basin that is common in a farmhouse sink but you get to show off the entire front wall of the sink. The exposed side of a farmhouse granite sink creates an eye-catching feature in the kitchen.

Finally, a granite kitchen sink wins hands down on the counts of durability and ability to withstand hot and cold temperatures. Due to the nature of the stone a sink made of granite will provide you with a hard, resilient surface that will resist chipping and scratching.

A granite sink meets the needs of anyone who wants to install a sink that looks different to the standard stainless steel sink. It will give you a sink that will perform strongly day after day, remaining clean and hygienic without a lot of effort.

There are many different kinds of kitchen sink materials to choose from such as the more traditional stainless steel kitchen sink to the types that aren’t seen nearly as much such as the copper kitchen sink. But one type of sink, the granite kitchen sink, will prove to be a particularly hard wearing and low-maintenance option that is becoming increasingly popular.

Granite kitchen sinks are made out of a composite granite material that has been cut and shaped to create a stunning looking sink. The sink is designed to withstand all sorts of heavy knocks with the fact that it cannot be chipped and resists scratching two of the more important reasons for buying one.

The other very important reason for wanting to get a granite kitchen sink is the look that it will give to the kitchen. In terms of a sink that will look out of this world the granite sink will transform any kitchen into which it is installed. Granite is a diverse sort of stone that has a large range of colors that can range from greens to pinks and whites and everywhere in between.

When a granite sink is set into a granite countertop the result is one harmonious design that will look clean and smooth, fresh as it is possible to get.

You’re not limited to a single size or depth with a granite sink with a full range available to cater for any kitchen needs. As well as a drop in look you have the more preferred undermount fixture. In most cases the counter and the sink will both be made of granite and so it makes sense to ensure it flows easily from one part of the house to the next.

It is possible, depending on the quality of the water that flows into it, that the sink can become stained with a white limestone-like deposit. This can happen with constant use and the water isn’t as clean as it could be. What is left behind is a chalky deposit that can become difficult to remove if it is left there for too long.

One method of cleaning a granite kitchen sink is to scrub it down with a mixture of hot water and white vinegar. Make sure the scrubbing is done with a soft scourer such as a Scotchbrite pad. A firm scrub should bring the sink back to near original condition.

Granite sinks are a terrific option as a low maintenance choice that also has the distinction of looking mighty fine into the bargain. Not only are granite sinks available as the standard single or double models but they can be bought as corner kitchen sinks too.

Visiting a few stores, either bricks and mortar or online, is a definite option that will quickly allow you to see just how many different types o granite kitchen sinks for sale there are.
