One of the cautions with buying a glass dining table is that it will be more prone to becoming damaged than other types of tables such as wooden or a laminate surface. When a glass dining table is subjected to a sharp blow from a heavy object there is a very good chance that it could crack, chip or break. Similarly, when dragging items across the surface you must be careful that you don’t scratch the glass.
To ensure that the table is kept in a good condition for a long time there are some basic care steps that you should take. Cleaning the table should be done with a glass cleaner and a soft cotton cloth. Don't forget that both sides of the glass is visible so you must clean the top side as well as the underside of the table top.
If the glass surface should become scratched or overly scuffed it is possible to renew the glass with the use of a buffing wheel. You can also repair small chips in the glass by rubbing emery paper and water over the chip. The blemish will soon be ground down to a point where you can then polish and buff the glass back to hide the imperfection.
When trying to create the ultimate in clean lines and a modern style, a glass dining table will be more than suitable. Put it in a predominently white room and place black and chrome dining chairs around it and you have the latest contemporary look.
