It is possible to turn your normal everyday manually operated faucet into a hands free autmoatic sensor faucet with the EZ Faucet Automatic Sensor Faucet Adaptor. This little gadget is designed to fit to a standard faucet and works with an infrared sensor that starts the water flow when the hands are under the beam
Although people may like to install one of these Faucet Adaptors in the kitchen, the best use you will get out of it will be in the bathroom when washing your hands. It is a water saving device and a healthy way of turning the faucet off and on.
This product is a really nice idea and has the potential of providing a cheap alternative to the complete hands-free faucet systems. It can be installed without the requirement of plumbing modification. The sensor detects movement under the faucet which begins the water flow and it will continue to flow while there is motion under the sensor.
There have been problems with the product with a significant number of reports stating that the EZ Faucet is not completely reliable. Brand new units have either not worked at all or worked for a short period of time before giving up the ghost. It seems that the problem is in the sensor and when that fails the water fails to begin flowing.
As I mentioned at the start of this post, it is a really good idea and if it were to be upgraded to a more reliable model I would be inclined to say, sure go ahead and put it in your bathroom. However, with so many people reporting exactly the same problem, that it simply refuses to work after a short period of operation, you would have to caution against buying and installing one.
